About the Fanlisting
A fanlisting.
A fanlisting is a place for all fans of a particular subject to come together and build a listing of people from around the world. In this case it's a fanlisting for the relationship between Ichigo and Chad. This fanlisting opened January 17, 2005.
Kurosaki Ichigo and Sado Yasutora (Chad).
The relationship between Ichigo and Chad is one of my favorite in Bleach. It's a quiet one and I love how they can communicate without words. It isn't until the 102th chapter when we find out how they met. In chapter 102, there is a flashback of Ichigo beaten up in an alley and it would seem that Sado helped him fend off the bullies. When Ichigo tried to read Sado's name tag he said "Chad" instead. Sado had just transferred to Ichigo's middle school that day. When asked why the 3rd-years were picking on him, Ichigo said that it was because of his hair color and that they don't like guys who stood out. Ichigo goes on to say that him and Chad are the same: they stand out. Ichigo continues to call Sado, "Chad," as they leave the alley together.
The second flashback is in chapter 107. Here we learn why Chad is willing to put his life on the line to save someone he barely knows. As Chad is fighting Kyouraku Shunsui, he remembers the promise he made with Ichigo. Ichigo and Chad are at the river side and it seems to be after a fight which Ichigo returned the favor. Ichigo asked why Chad didn't fight back to which he replied that he made a promise with is grandpa that he would not swing his fist for himself. Ichigo asks about the coin Chad always wears. Chad said it's from Mexico and it's more important than his life. As they were about to leave, they discover an open cellphone on Chad; a gang of sorts were listening on their conversation. As Chad was walking alone, headphones and all, he was kidnapped by the gang. The leader takes the coin and threatens to trash it but Ichigo comes to the rescue, kicks the leader and takes back the coin. Ichigo proceeds to beat up the rest of the gang. After the fight Ichigo makes a promise with Chad. They promised that they would fight for each other and if one of them puts their life on the line to protect something, then the other will do the same.
The promise they made is very important in the Soul Society Arc because Ichigo is putting his life on the line to save Kuchiki Rukia so Chad, too, is also putting his life on the line for Ichigo. With Chad watching his back, Ichigo is confident enough that his friends will survive so he can handle his business. It's easy to see how these two have a strong relationship and will continue to have each other's back no matter what.
Title.
Heat in Trust is the title of one of the chapters that featured the flashback of how Ichigo and Chad became friends. I thought the title reflected their relationship nicely.
Layout.
Very different from the first layout. I decided to go with a div layout this time around to give more room for larger text. I also like the colors much better here than the first. The awesome image used can be found at Chase Chad Around. The texture used is from Tre-xtures. Past versions: one
